1. What is the Year Over Year chart?
The Year Over Year chart gives Institution Managers a side-by-side comparison of applicant demographic data across the previous three recruitment seasons.
Use this chart to:
Spot trends in applicant demographics over time
Compare your institution's applicant pool year to year
Review data by percentage or raw count, depending on your needs

2. Before starting
Before using the Year Over Year chart, make sure:
You are logged in to Cerebellum
You are logged in as an Institution Manager
3. Navigate to the Year Over Year chart
Log in to Cerebellum
Navigate to Institution Data
Select Year Over Year from the available views
The chart will load with a comparison table displaying data from the previous three recruitment seasons.
4. Select a data category
Use the dropdown menu at the top of the chart to choose which applicant data you want to review.
The following categories are available:
Medical School Type — breakdown of applicants by school type (US-MD, US-DO, Canadian, IMG, IMG-Caribbean, Uncategorized)
Gender — breakdown by gender identity (Man, Woman, Not Specified, Other, Another Gender Identity)
Race and Ethnicity — breakdown by race/ethnicity (American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish Origin, White, No Identification)
Language Proficiency — breakdown by primary language (includes Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, English, Spanish, and others)
Work Authorization — breakdown by authorization status (Authorized/Not Authorized, Sponsorship Needed/Not Needed)

5. Switch between percent and count
Each category can be viewed in two ways:
Percent — Shows each group as a percentage of the total applicant pool for that year
Count — Shows the raw number of applicants in each group for that year
Toggle between the two options using the controls displayed within the chart.
| Note: Percent view is useful for comparing trends across years when total applicant volume has changed. Count view is useful when you need exact numbers. |
