Specialty Dashboards — Program Users

Review specialty-wide interview activity and interview distribution trends to help contextualize recruitment season patterns within Cerebellum.

1. What is the Specialty Dashboard?

The Specialty Dashboard provides specialty-level interview analytics for ERAS-participating specialties within Cerebellum. It lives in your program view under your match rank list.

The dashboard includes two primary reports: Interviews by Program and Interviews by Applicant.

Report

What it shows us

Interviews by Program

Displays how interview invitations are distributed across programs within the selected specialty.

Interviews by Applicant

Displays how interview invitations are distributed across applications within the selected specialty.

Using anonymized and aggregated interview data from participating programs, the dashboard helps programs better understand interview activity across their specialty during the current recruitment season.

Programs may use the dashboard to:

  • Review interview invitation trends

  • Understand how interviews are distributed across applications

  • Monitor scheduling and interview completion activity

  • Compare specialty-wide interview patterns

Note

  • Programs can only identify their own program data. All other specialty data is anonymized.

  • Dashboard data refreshes daily and reflects the currently selected specialty and recruitment season.

  • Dashboard insights are intended for informational and benchmarking purposes only. The charts are designed to help programs understand specialty interview activity patterns and are not intended to predict match outcomes.

2. Understanding Specialty Dashboard metrics

Each dashboard includes summary metrics that provide a quick overview of interview activity within the selected filters.

Metric

What it means

Program Representation

Percentage of ERAS-participating programs within the specialty that are included in the dashboard data for the selected season.

Mean

The average number of interviews across the included data.

Median

The middle interview value when totals are ordered from lowest to highest.

Range

The lowest and highest interview totals included in the selected view.

Total Applicants

Total number of applications included in the current dashboard view.

% of Applicants Not Invited

Percentage of included applications that have not received an interview invitation.

Together, these metrics help programs better understand:

  • Overall interview activity

  • How evenly interviews may be distributed

  • Whether interview activity appears concentrated or appears spread across applications or programs

3. Interviews by Program

What does this chart show?

The Interviews by Program chart displays how interview invitations are distributed across programs within the selected specialty.

Use this chart to review:

  • Overall specialty interview activity

  • Interview volume distribution across programs

  • Whether interview activity appears broadly distributed or concentrated

Important: Programs can only identify their own data by locating the orange bar in the chart. All other programs are anonymized.

How to read the chart

In general:

  • The X-axis displays the number of interview invitations

  • The Y-axis displays the number of programs associated with that interview volume

  • Each bar represents a group of programs within the specialty

  • Hovering over a chart bar displays additional details

Example interpretation

If most programs are grouped within lower interview ranges, but a small number of programs have significantly higher interview volumes, interview activity may appear unevenly distributed across the specialty.

4. Interviews by applicant

What does this chart show?

The Interviews by Applicant chart displays how interview invitations are distributed across applications within the selected specialty.

Use this chart to review:

  • How interview invitations are spread across applications

  • Whether interview activity appears concentrated among smaller applicant groups

  • Specialty-wide interview distribution trends

Note: In this dashboard, “applicant” generally refers to an application included within the selected filters.

How to read the chart

In general:

  • The X-axis displays the number of interview invitations received

  • The Y-axis displays the number of applications associated with that interview count

  • Example chart groupings may include:

    • 0 interviews

    • 1 interview

    • 5 interviews

    • 10 interviews

  • Hovering over a chart bar displays additional details about that data group.

Example interpretation

If applications are clustered within higher interview ranges, interview activity may be concentrated among applicant groups within the specialty.

8. Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Question

Answer

Why does the data change throughout the season?

Dashboard metrics update continuously as interview activity changes throughout the recruitment cycle.

Why do Mean and Median values differ?

Some applications or programs may receive significantly more interview invitations than others, which can affect average values differently than median values.

What does Program Representation mean?

Program Representation shows how much of the specialty is included in the dashboard data for the selected season. The included programs are using Thalamus for recruitment activities. For example, “n = 83% (284 of 344)” means 284 Thalamus programs are included out of 344 total ERAS-participating programs within the specialty.

Why might some programs display lower invitation totals?

Some programs may send interview invitations outside of Thalamus. As a result, dashboard totals may not reflect all interview activity for every program.

Why can’t I identify other programs?

Specialty-level dashboard data is anonymized to protect program confidentiality.

Does the dashboard include all specialties?

No. Only supported ERAS-participating specialties are included at this time.

Is dashboard data displayed in real time?

No. Dashboard data refreshes daily.

How should programs interpret these charts?

The charts are intended to help programs understand overall interview distribution trends within the specialty and support informational benchmarking insights.

Does the dashboard include historical data?

The dashboard includes data for the current recruitment season and uses available historical AAMC data where applicable.
