Applicant Surveys on the Web & Mobile Apps

Complete, save, and review program Surveys directly from the web and mobile apps.

1. What is a Survey?

Surveys are program-created questionnaires that allow programs to gather information from you during the recruitment season. Programs may send Surveys at various points throughout the process, such as before or after an interview. Navigate to the Applicant Dashboard to access Surveys.

The Surveys section on your dashboard displays all Surveys assigned to you and tracks their completion status. Surveys are organized into two tabs:

TabDescription
Pending

Surveys that are new, in progress, or require action.

Completed
Surveys that have been submitted.

Programs configure the Survey Type when creating a Survey in Thalamus. You cannot adjust this setting. When available, the Survey Type is displayed at the top of the Survey.

Survey TypeDescription
Anonymous

Responses are collected without identifying you.

Non-Anonymous

Responses may be associated with your name.

2. Survey Question Types

Survey questions may vary by program and can include multiple-choice, free-response, rating scale, and dropdown selections. A sample Survey is displayed below.

3. Survey actions

You can choose from the following actions while completing a Survey:

ActionDescription
Save for Later
Save current responses and return to complete the Survey at a later time. Programs will not be able to see pending responses.
Submit

Submit Survey responses to the program.

Submit with Unanswered Fields

Submit available responses without completing all questions. This option only appears when a Survey contains unanswered questions and the Survey is configured to allow partial submission.

Exit Without Saving

Leave the Survey without saving any changes made during the current session.

Important: Selecting Save for Later does not submit responses to the program.

4. Resuming a Survey

If a Survey was previously saved, a Resume option will appear from the Surveys section. Selecting Resume opens the Survey and allows you to continue where they left off.

You may continue updating responses, save progress again, or submit the Survey when ready.

5. Completed Surveys

After a Survey has been submitted, it will move to the Completed tab in the Surveys section.

Surveys are configured to allow you to:

  • View previously submitted responses

  • Edit Survey responses

  • Resubmit an edited Survey

When applicable, the Survey will also display the date and time the Survey was last submitted.

6. Surveys on Mobile

The Surveys experience on Thalamus mobile mirrors the web experience. Scroll down on the Dashboard on your mobile app to view and complete Surveys.
