Using Cortex During SOAP Week

View, review, and manage SOAP applicants in Cortex using SOAP Mode. Export applicants with an "Invite" status to Thalamus Core for scheduling.

Roles: Program Director, Program Coordinator, Program Administrator, Program Interviewer

Prerequisites:

  • An active ERAS Program
  • SOAP applicants authorized from ERAS PDWS into Cortex

Authorizing ERAS Applicants into Cortex

For ERAS programs utilizing Cortex, SOAP applicants must be authorized directly from ERAS PDWS into Cortex — the same process used during the regular recruitment season.

For detailed instructions, see Importing SOAP Applicants in Thalamus Core and Cortex (ERAS Programs).

Viewing SOAP Applicants in Cortex

Once SOAP applicants are authorized from ERAS, toggle SOAP on to view and manage them.

  1. In Cortex, locate the SOAP Mode toggle in the upper left corner of the screen.
  2. Toggle SOAP Mode to active.

With SOAP active, the applicant list will display only SOAP applicants authorized from ERAS.

Reviewing SOAP Applicants

  1. With SOAP Mode active, navigate to the Assignments page to assign applicants to reviewers. See Cortex - Managing Applicant Assignments and Status for detailed instructions.
  2. Program users review SOAP applicants and make their status recommendations (visible under the applicant's application photo).
  3. SOAP scorecards are available in the applicant's score drawer for scoring during the review process.

Exporting SOAP Applicants to Thalamus Core

Once applicants have been reviewed and given an Overall Applicant Status of "Invite", they can be exported to Thalamus Core for interview scheduling.

  1. With SOAP active, use the Export button to export applicants with an "Invite" status to Thalamus Core.
  2. Exported applicants will appear on the SOAP tab of the Applicants page in Thalamus Core.

Things to Know

Program Directors and Program Administrators have the ability to assign applicants to specific faculty interviewers as well as make changes to an applicant's status within Cortex.

Programs that used Cortex during the main season can toggle SOAP on and off to switch between viewing regular season applicants and SOAP applicants.

Cortex is available during SOAP only ERAS participating programs.
